Learn Healthy Communication and The Importance of Listening in Couples Therapy

Relationships take work. Compromise and communication are needed to maintain a healthy relationship. It's normal for couples to experience "road bumps" along the way, which can be rough. However, couples therapy provides a space to talk about those "road bumps" and how to navigate them. Contact us today and grow your relationship.

Our Methods for Couples Therapy

Our therapists take an eclectic approach to help your relationship succeed. They will collaborate with you and your partner to discover the source of what's hurting your relationship while helping you find a solution. Our couples therapy experts are well-trained and educated to help you and your partner overcome any hurdle.

Clinicians at Seattle Wellness Center utilize their knowledge, training, and experience to put treatments into practice. Solution Focused Therapy is a method that focuses on building solutions while concentrating on the strengths and possibilities of the clients to help them move forward. Our therapists will work with you to find what causes your pain and guide you toward a solution. It is our mission that you eventually leave couples therapy and have a happier, healthier relationship.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, or DBT, is a modified type of cognitive behavior therapy. This type of therapy focuses on teaching people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate emotions, solve relationship problems with others, and form healthy new relationships with others.

Originally this type of therapy was developed to treat borderline personality disorder but has been discovered to help those having difficulty with emotion regulation or showing signs of self-destructive behavior such as eating disorders and substance abuse disorders. Additionally, this type of therapy has been used on occasion to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.

Solution Focused Therapy

SFT is goal-directed therapy and focuses on building solutions rather than solving problems. This type of therapy concentrates on the strengths and possibilities of the clients to help them move forward.

Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, or EMDR, is a psychotherapy treatment intended to relieve one's distress associated with traumatic memories. The therapeutic technique facilitates the accessing and processing of the traumatic memories and other adversity in finding an adaptive resolution.

For couples specifically, this therapy method requires the couple to be at the session together. There should be no individual sessions.

How Can Therapy Help Me?

There are many ways that therapy can help one grow. Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills, and coping strategies for a number of issues.

Ultimately, the benefits of therapy depend on your commitment level to achieving your goals.

How Long Should I Be in Therapy For?

This depends on the individual as it’s different for everyone. Some people will be in therapy for a couple of weeks, a few months, or years. The healing process is different for everyone. Ultimately, our philosophy is to provide individuals the tools necessary to eventually not need therapy and move on in life.

Does Therapy Involve Medication?

It depends on the condition and what the patient is suffering from. There are a ton of treatments that are holistic and require no medication, and healing is done through therapy methods.
