Jeanette Silva, As a therapist, I believe that to have a successful counseling experience it is critical that you feel fully listened to and fully understood. I use careful listening and reflecting to join with you to address what is most important to you. I have a compassionate, empathetic style which I believe is essential for us to move forward as we discuss your situation. As you progress, I help you gain insight about your situation, allow you to vent about your troubles and develop better ways of coping. Sometimes simply being heard, especially if you are grieving, can be very powerful.
As an individual with both a chronic illness and a disability, I have become extremely familiar with the grief, anger and depression that often accompany a life altering medical condition. Together we address these issues and learn how you can best develop an engaged, more fulfilling life. Additionally, I have helped many clients deal with a variety of other issues including depression, anxiety, difficult relationships, work / life stress, divorces, abuse, suicidal feelings and relocation, I ensure that you are fully understood and attain the support you need to deal with life’s difficulties. We work through the emotions associated with the hardship and learn realistic coping strategies. My goal is for you to learn how to best deal with the troubles you are experiencing and to develop better coping methods. This in turn, can lead to greater life satisfaction and a more insightful understanding of yourself.
I believe it is important for a therapist to draw from a number of therapeutic modalities to best address each client individually. Whether you meet with me once or over a period of time, I utilize humanistic approaches, CBT, solution focused therapy and Gestalt techniques that get to the core of what is troubling you. This can enable you to develop behaviors and responses that work best for you.
I have over 15 years of experience. My work ranges from academic settings, social services and programs for the disabled. I have co-facilitated several counseling groups including adoption groups, Adult Children of Alcoholics groups, employment groups for disabled job seekers and social skills groups for adolescents. Currently I offer both telehealth and in-person appointments for individuals throughout Washington state.

I was struggling with my anxiety and depression and I wasn’t sure what to do. After searching all over Seattle I finally came across Seattle Wellness Center. Their staff was warm, welcoming and accommodating to my needs. I could not thank them enough for everything they have done.
